Point of view writing.

Our reading task for the last few days has been on a book called wonder wrote by R.J Palacio. We have been answering questions about the book and first person and we also had to write a small essay. here it is.

‘Wonder’ is a story about a boy who feels ordinary on the inside, but he is always reminded of how different he is by how people respond when they see him. This is R.J Palacio’s first novel and it is written in the first person.

I think it is in first person because in the chapter christopher’s house August says, “I was really bummed when Christopher moved away 3 years ago.”  

Also in the the chapter christopher’s house August says “,No I want to know what you are talking about,” to Mum. after he woke up.

My Visual Mihi Mihi

In the last 2 weeks of school, I have been making a visual mihi I have learnt how to pronounce all māori. We needed to have:

1. Photo or a self portrait.
2. Places that were special to us.
3. Pictures or symbols that represent our culture.

If we spoke clearly and presented well we would score good on our rubric. I am confident I did good

Wellington Camp

I woke up at 5:30 and waited for my mum to pick me up. Then we drove to Addington train station. When we got there we saw that West Melton school were going to Wellington at the same time as us. The train took about 5 hours on the train, it was alright. Then we got on the ferry. That took 3 hours. When we got there we got in a shuttle, then we got to our hostel and we made our beds. By then it was 5:30pm. After that we went for a walk to the waterfront.

 

On Tuesday night we went to Robin Hood at the Circa Theatre, before that it was McDonalds for tea! We did rock climbing and roller blading on Wednesday night -  that was fun! Before that we did multiplayer gaming and Wake Up NZ. Then we had subway for tea. And we played on the big slide. The next day we walked up Mt Victoria and later we went to the Gallipolli Exhibition at Te Papa. That night we ate tea at the food court. I had buttered chicken. On the last day we went to Weta Workshop. After that we went to the airport for 5 hours, finally we got on the plane and went home YAY!!!! I'm so glad we are actually back.

This term and last term we have been working on genius hour projects. These were a topics that we got to choose and then we found information about our topic. So here is my presentation.

My Artist - Hamish Allan

Hi it's Logan here. We have been learning about a New Zealand Artist.
I chose Hamish Allan because I knew quite a lot about him before we started.
I learnt that Hamish Allan wasn't just good at painting, he could sculpture things
out of stone before he became an artist. Artist's bring colour to the world and it's everywhere. I think it's important we appreciate Art because it makes us think. Please enjoy.

100Wc week 2

One day I was going home and my dad said we are getting a dog. I asked him what kind and he said he didn't know but we are going to see it now. When we got there we had to find what one we like and dad said we were getting one of the little fluffy brown one. And we didn't know what to call it. It felt like a cloud he was so soft when we were going home we decided to call him Dougle but when we got home he was crazy he is awesome.

Long Jump Practise

   We have doing some long jump and this is where I am at the moment:

• I am consistent where my feet leave the mat.
• I can land in the same place in the pit every time.

What I am aiming for:

• Make sure I count my steps back.
• High arms in mid-air.
• Land in the same place in the pit every time.
• High knees when I'm about to land.
